1963
Oldsmobile Starfire Convertible

Owned by: Jamie & Sherril Cox of North Saanich, B.C.
This 1963 Oldsmobile Starfire Convertible is one of 507 Canadian made in Oshawa, Ontario (January, 1963) and shipped to General Supplies Ltd, Calgary. It was sold in Nov. of that year to a couple who used it for long distance trips to Winnipeg, Vancouver, Saskatoon and Edmonton. We found it about 1997 in sad shape, but 100% original. Using DuPont Paint systems by Dave Free in DeWinton, Alberta, it was painted with 18 coats of primer, paint and clear over a 3.5 month period. The white top is still original; the interior is still original. We added radial tires and cleaned up the motor, which now has 67,500 miles from the 56,800 miles when we found it. The Ultra High Compression of 10.5 to 1 gives 345 HP from the 394 cubic inch motor. Top speed is 135 miles an hour.
Key options are: Tilt
wheel --first year for that, PS, PT, PB,
PW,
PAerial and P Top, with PSeat on the Driver side, remote mirror,
Wonderbar
radio with rear speaker and tinted glass windshield. It also has
a clutch
fan with fan shroud and Custom full wheel disks.
Standard equipment is bucket seats of Leather / Vinyl combination , RPM
gage, Automatic- 3 speed; dual exhausts with resonators. Color is
Saddle
Mist in & out.
We have a great deal of original Sales Literature including the
original
Bill of Sale from the owner, whom we know and met so we have the car
history.
It drives like a new car.........floating along getting from 12 to 18 miles per gallon on regular fuel. A fine 'fun investment'.
